Intraocular foreign body (IOFB)

Intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) were 16-40% of open globe trauma and could cause severe visual loss. Therefore, they require immediate diagnosis treatment. This is a case an 18-year-old man who came to the hospital complaining metal piercing in his left eye while cutting some about 2 hours before entering hospital. On ophthalmologic examination, acuity was 3/60, full-thickness laceration cornea with IOFB seen at anterior chamber base. Immediate evacuation carried out on same day as incident happened. During operation, intraocular body sharp tip, 4x2x1 mm size, successfully removed intact condition. Next, corneal limbus incision sutured using 10.0 nylon. The stitches are tight, depth maintained. Evaluation fourth week after showed that 6/20 lens correction C-1.50 x 150° become 6/7.5. Appropriate prompt management injury can contribute preserving good anatomical functional result.
